About Us

I loved the idea of the "sunrise alarm clock" the first time I heard it, and purchased my first one (a basic Biobrite) over 10 years ago.

I have never been a morning person, but one summer in college I had an east-facing room. To my amazement, I was getting up earlier (and easier) all summer. Sunlight streaming in at 6 a.m. helps like that!

While light alarm clocks can't replicate bright sunshine, I've found them helpful. The clocks on the market today could definitely be improved (build quality can be a little on the flimsy side, and the lights are often no where as bright as I'd like!) but they're still a very cool, useful device that can help make the mornings a little less bleary and dark.

My original clock finally died last year, and I've been researching the alternatives, and wanted to share the information I found here. It can be hard to figure out the differences in models, or which clocks have lightbulbs that are impossible to replace (Philips, I'm looking at you!) - so I hope having this information in one place helps others who might be thinking about picking one of these up.

I'm also looking at the sunrise timers - which allow you to use your own lamp as a light alarm. This may be a way to get a brighter "sunrise". As soon as I get a chance, I'll be posting more info on those.

Thanks for taking the time to visit and read.
